What we do
At SNCF Voyageurs, we have 3 passenger transport activities: high-speed long-distance rail—including low-cost offers—in France and other European countries; last-kilometre service in rural communities; and mass transit in the Paris region.
We tailor each offer to the special needs of the national, regional and local TAs that govern these lines.
TGV–Intercités—high-speed, long-distance rail

TGV INOUI
Since 1981, TGVs operated by SNCF Voyageurs have carried over 3 billion passengers. TGV INOUI—a masterpiece of high-speed rail technology—offers low-carbon travel to over 200 destinations in France and other European countries. In 2024, over 126 million passengers were carried in France, up 3.5% on 2023.

Intercités
These short- and medium-distance trains operate under public service contracts, with the French State acting as transport authority. They support economic development in France’s regions, serving over 150 destinations on 9 daytime and 3 overnight lines and carried 12 millions people in 2024, up 8% over 2023.

Ouigo
This low-cost, high-speed service, launched in 2013, now accounts for over 25% of TGV journeys in France each year. In 2021, we launched Ouigo España, followed in 2022 by low-cost, classic-speed trains on the Paris–Lyon and Paris–Nantes lines, and since 2024, on the Paris-Rennes line; since 2024, a low-cost line connecting Paris and Brussels has also been added.

International passenger service
SNCF Voyageurs is the leading shareholder in TGV Lyria, which links France to Switzerland, and in the Eurostar Group, operator of high-speed trains between the continent and the UK, and between France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.

TER—regional rail for France
Our TER business line designs and operates tendered public transport services to 11 French regions, with regional governments acting as their own transport authorities.
8,200
lines operated by TER
430
million passengers in 2024, up 10% over 2023
TER owns
2,131
trainsets, 214 locomotives and 1,184 coaches
Supporting regional TAs
Under its PlaneTER programme, TER works with TAs to create door-to-door solutions, offering easy, reliable, sustainable regional mobility for all. TER covers the full range of transport modes—trains, coaches, carpooling, bikes and more. Thanks to our wide range of skills, knowledge of the French market, and complementary business lines, SNCF Voyageurs delivers a fully integrated offer that meets the needs of regional passengers and TAs:
- sales (including special fares and services)
- passenger information
- ticketing
- transport
- rolling stock maintenance
A new lease of life with OPTER
In recognition of our expertise, 12 French regions and the Luxembourg National Railway Company have signed €2.1 billion in commitments with SNCF Voyageurs to carry out our OPTER maintenance programme. Over the next 10 years, we’ll refurbish and update nearly 1,000 TER regional trains at our 10 heavy-maintenance Technicentres across France.

Transilien
Our Transilien unit operates 18 regional and RER commuter rail lines on behalf of Île-de-France Mobilités, the TA for the Paris region. The world’s second-busiest mass transit network after Tokyo, Transilien carries 3.3 million passengers a day on 6,000 trains serving nearly 400 stations.
Tomorrow’s high-performance rail
The Transilien network, serving a region of 12 million, is a showcase for our crowd management and rail traffic skills. It will soon become even more complex when the massive Eole project extends RER commuter line E some 55 km into the west side of the Paris region.
Promoting the green transition
With average per-passenger CO2 emissions at just 4.1 g/km—versus 138 g/km for a car with driver—Transilien also plays a major role in meeting the environmental challenge and easing urban congestion.
